1. i always salt'n pepper and add some dried, flaked onions to my ground beef - no matter what i'm making. a culinary cook once told me to ALWAYS season your meat.
2. i'm sure we've all heard of this: but i ALWAYS season my water with salt before i cook noodles, as well. it gives the noodles a little boost in flavor.
3. this one is kind of random...and i should probably be banned from the food blog for admitting i eat Top Ramen on a regular basis...hey, i have kids! :) having said that, a great way to spice up Ramen is to add an egg to it. seriously, right after you add the noodles and seasoning to the boiling water, crack an egg in there and stir it up. it makes for a yummy egg-drop-soup kinda taste. mmmm.
i can't think of anything else right now, i'm hoping you guys can give me more ideas!!
My body isn't what it used to be so I am one of those people that really have to work hard if I want to be fit and thin. So in an effort to eat healthier amoung many other things we have changed, I have given up salt. I know you need a little bit but there is salt in so many things already that I shouldn't be adding any. My husband and I found this amazing seasoning that we add to nearly everything, eggs, burgers, soup, really anything I would put salt on. We bought it at costco it is called Organic No- Salt Seasoning. It has stuff like carrot, bell pepper, celery, lemon peel...the list goes on and on. If it sounds gross to you I swear it is the best thing I have ever added to my food! It has 21 organic spices. Acouple other things to try is instead of using butter or bad oils, try olive oil or coconut oil. Coconut oil can be a little pricey, but if you watch for it you can get it at a decent price. It adds a little bit of flavor to anything you are baking, even if you are frying up bacon. If you have never heard of it you should read up on how good it is for you. Extra Virgin olive oil at a grocery store is like 8 bucks for a little bottle, go to costco and buy two huge containers of it for 25. I have filled up my little bottle with one container at leat 8 times! So worth it, and if you stop buys conola and vegtable oil and just use healthy olve oil you will go through it in no time. Hope you found my 3 simple ways to eat healthier and add flavor infomative and useful. These things were so easy to change and I feel they have done a lot.
one more thing I must mention, that I also use the olive oil to fry with. As long as the oil dosnt get hot enough to steam or boil it wont kill the good in the oil.
1. Mrs. Dash- there are many different kinds out there: original blend, extra spicy, etc. The best part about it is that it has NO salt.
2. Canadian Steak Seasoning- I have only been able to find this at Sam's Club, but I have not gone out of my way to look for it anywhere else because I know Sam's will always have it in BULK.
3. Cinnamon- I love to put cinnamon on PB & J's and French Toast. Cinnamon also has many health benefits too!
4. Minced garlic- love this because you get the fresh garlic taste without having to cut them and smell like garlic for three days.
5. Fresh cilantro- enough said.
6. Jalapenos- I love spicy food so I will come up with any excuse to throw in jalapenos: chili, hamburger for anything, baked beans, and whatever else needs a little more spice or flavor.
I'll try to think of 5 but a lot of good ones have already been used :)
1. Marinate - you can use SO many different kinds, each time is a new flavor!
2. I am a fan of the fresh ground pepper, I like it better than salt!
3. Let it simmer - especially if your making a spaghetti sauce or something like that, simmer it and let all the flavors come out!
4. Use fresh ingredients - who doesn't like fresh green beans better than canned....
5. Refrigerate it - like a pasta salad or something, it's always better if it has sat in the fridge for an hour or so before you serve it to let all the flavors come together!
Yes, I agree Gretchen! I've learned the hard way that simmering actaully does WONDERS. And refrigerating pasta does somehow make it taste better. Who'da thunk?

1. Sea salt instead of regular salt, it has a whole different flavor and you don't need as much. Oh, and fresh ground black pepper.
2. Lemon zest, added to pasta, chicken, even baked goods. It enhances the flavor of anything, makes it taste fresh.
